Vikings finish the year 8-7 overall and 2-4 in the CCIW; Christina McCabe earns first team All-CCIW honors and Carla Bennett is a second team selection; goalie Annalia Fowler sets school records for saves in a game, season and career
 
Augustana, under second-year Coach C.J. Durham, finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 8-7 and a CCIW mark of 2-4. Junior attack Christina McCabe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) was a first team All-CCIW selection, while classmate Carla Bennett (Marian Catholic HS, South Holland, Ill.) was named to the second team.
 
The Vikings opened the season with five wins in their first six games. They won their season opener at home over Southwestern before suffering a loss to Rhodes in Memphis, Tennessee. Durham's bunch bounced back with wins at Hendrix and Westminster (Mo.) before returning to Thorson-Lucken Field and downing University of St. Mary (Kan.). A win at Monmouth finished off a four-game winning streak.
 
Augustana closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule by sandwiching losses to Albion and Aurora around a win at Trine. Senior goalie Annalia Fowler (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) set a school record with 19 saves against at Albion.
 
The Vikings dropped their first three CCIW contests on the road at North Central, Illinois Wesleyan and Carroll before falling to Carthage at home. However, they rebounded to close the season with wins over Dubuque and Elmhurst at Thorson-Lucken.
 
Fowler finished with an 8-7 record in 805 minutes in goal and set a new single-season school record with 168 saves. She had a save percentage of .480, a 13.57 goals against average and a team-high 45 ground balls. She finished her career as the Vikings' all-time leader in saves (340) and save percentage (.469) and her 31 career wins rank second in program history.
 
The junior foursome of Bailey Aasen (Park HS, Cottage Grove, Minn.), McCabe, Bennett and Emily Lucnik (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) led Durham's squad in the field this year.
 
Aasen finished with team highs of 50 goals and 63 points, while her 13 assists were tied for second. She was also second in draw controls (37) and third in ground balls (37) and caused turnovers (10).
 
McCabe led the way with 20 assists and ranked second with 41 goals and 61 points.
 
Bennett led the Vikings with 76 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers, ranked second in assists (13) and ground balls (39) and was third on the team in goals (40) and points (53).
 
Lucnik's 11 caused turnovers were second on the team. She also scored 21 goals, collected 22 ground balls and controlled 25 draws.
