Freshman third baseman/designated hitter Molly Wrenn won "Hitter of the
Week" honors in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin last weekend
when she batted .643 in four games.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Augustana freshman Molly Wrenn (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) had not batted on the Vikings Carver Field in a game situation before this past weekend and that only happened because Greenville College couldn't get its field ready to host the Greenville Tournament. Augustana stepped in and acted as the host and Wrenn might be wishing that Head Coach Kris Kistler gets her opponents to switch venues more often. Wrenn torched pitching staffs from both Loras and Wisconsin-Platteville last weekend and was named the "Offensive Player of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for her effort.

Wrenn, a third baseman/designated hitter, batted .643 (nine for 14) with three runs scored, three doubles, one home run and six runs-batted-in in four games. She had a slugging percentage of 1.071 as she totaled 15 bases in 14 at-bats.

She went three for four with two runs scored, two RBI, one double and one home run in a 7-2 win against Loras and four for four with one run, three RBI and two doubles in a 14-5 win over Wisconsin-Platteville on March 16. On March 18 she was two for four with a stolen base in a 2-1 win over Wisconsin-Platteville on March 18.

Wrenn was also perfect in six fielding attempts with five assists and one put out.

Augustana won three of four games over the weekend and the Vikings are currently 11-3 on the year. This weekend Wrenn will be back in the friendly environs of Carver Field for the Augustana Invitational on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25 with Wisconsin-LaCrosse and Dubuque coming to town.

Wrenn has paced the Viking offense in the early going this season. She leads the team in batting (.545), doubles (five), homers (tied with one), RBI (17), total bases (26), slugging (.788), walks (tied with five), on-base percentage (.605) and stolen bases (five).

The daughter of Brian and Julia Wrenn of Geneva, Illinois, Molly is a biology major.
