Capital One has released its Academic All-America teams for 2014-15 in NCAA Division III men's track & field/cross country and recent Augustana graduates David Voland (Batavia HS, Batavia, Ill.) and David Devore (Midland HS, Midland, Mich.) have both been named to the first team. Voland, a sprinter and hurdler, was a first team selection for the second year in a row after earning third team recognition as a sophomore. Devore, a sprinter, was a second team honoree in 2014. They become the 156th and 157th Academic All-Americans in school history.

Voland and Devore shared the Vikings' Most Valuable Performer honors for track this year and both were members of Augustana's first-ever national championship relay. They teamed with sophomore Isaac Smith (Marion HS, Marion, Ill.) and senior Keith Cline (Byron HS, Byron, Ill.) to win the indoor 4x400 title in Winston-Salem, North Caroline on March 14. Their time of 3:15.97 set a new school record.

Voland, the son of Richard and Nancy Voland of Batavia, Illinois, graduated with a 3.83 grade point average in mathematics and secondary education. A member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society as well as the Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society, he worked as a volunteer teacher in Cuenca, Ecuador in the summer of 2014 and has served as a peer leader as part of Augustana's Emerge Leadership Program.

In addition to the indoor 4x400 record this year, Voland helped set a school record in the indoor 4x200 relay (1:29.26). He also set a new mark in the outdoor 400 hurdles, running a second-place :50.86 at the national meet in Canton, New York on May 23. He won CCIW championships indoors in the 400 and 4x400 relay and was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer for track. He finished his career as an 11-time All-American and 11-time CCIW champion. He currently holds five school records.

Devore is the son of Helena and Dave Devore of Midland, Michigan. He carried a 3.68 GPA in applied mathematics and computer science. He's served internships in automation and software development at Dow Chemical and worked as an ITS assistant at Augustana.

Devore won the CCIW indoor 55-meter title this year, running a :06.45 that broke a 34-year old school record. He also helped set a new school standard in the outdoor 4x100 (:40.87) at the national meet. At the CCIW Outdoor meet, he captured the 100 and 200 and was a member of the winning 4x100 relay. He was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer for track for the second straight year. A three-time CCIW Most Outstanding Track Performer (twice outdoors, once indoors), Devore wrapped up his career as a 13-time CCIW champion and a nine-time All-American. He currently owns four school records.

The Capital One Academic All-America team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and Augustana has a long and storied history of success with the program. Currently the Vikings are seventh for number of Academic All-Americans produced with 157. Augustana is in third place among NCAA Division III schools with only Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Emory University having produced more. Augustana ranks first in both the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin and the state of Illinois.
