ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The 2014-15 season opened the Dan Lloyd era at Augustana. The Vikings finished 1-3 in dual meet competition and repeated last year's fourth-place finish at the CCIW Swimming & Diving Championships. Individually, one of the highlights came from senior Jamie Graf (Lincoln-Way Central HS, Putnam, Ill.), who took down her own school record in the 200 breaststroke.
 
The season opened at the Illinois Wesleyan Halloween Invitational on October 25. Augustana won two relay events en route to a second place finish. The Vikings won the 300 yard backstroke relay and the 300 yard breaststroke relay for their only two victories in the meet. In the 300 backstroke relay the team of sophomore Allison Patch (Moline HS, Coal Valley, Ill.), senior Laura Pemberton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.) and freshman Kristin Schoenecker (Edwardsville HS, Glen Carbon, Ill.) won with a time of 3:14.33. The other winning relay team came from the 300 breaststroke unit of junior Jordan Johnson (Appleton North HS, Appleton, Wis.), Pemberton and freshman Sara Hovren (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.) with a time of 3:46.64.
 
Spreading the wealth around, Augustana rolled up a 130-87 dual meet victory over Loras on November 7 in the Carver Center. The Vikings won nine of the 13 events and had just one double winner – junior Megan McGregor (Lincoln-Way East HS, Mokena, Ill.). McGregor won both diving events, while Augustana also won both relays and six of the individual swimming races.
 
Lake Forest won all 13 events and defeated Augustana 150-81 in dual action on November 16 in Lake Forest, Illinois. The Vikings placed fourth in the seven-team Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on November 22 at the Shirk Center Pool in Bloomington, Illinois. Lloyd's crew placed sixth in the 13-team Pioneer Classic in Grinnell, Iowa on December 5-6 and fifth among 10 teams at the Grinnell Invitational on January 17.
 
Schoenecker led the way with a pair of second-place finishes as Augustana suffered a 228-47 loss to Carthage at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center on January 24. On January 31 in Monmouth, Illinois, sophomore Brittney Crawford (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) won two individual events and led off a winning relay but it was not enough, as the Vikings fell to Monmouth 135-82.
 
Graf swam a 2:30.31 200 breaststroke at the CCIW Championships in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin on Valentine's Day. That broke the school record of 2:31.95 she set at last year's conference meet. Augustana was fourth in the team standings behind Wheaton, Carthage and Illinois Wesleyan.
 
In addition to Graf's record, this year's squad posted five times that rank on Augustana's all-time top ten lists. Schoenecker is now 8th on the 100 backstroke list with a time of 1:02.65 and 10th on the 200 freestyle list at 2:01.15. Johnson moved into second place on the 200 breaststroke list at 2:33.87. Pemberton is now fourth on the 100 backstroke list with a time of 1:01.85 and Crawford's 1:03.18 in the 100 backstroke now ranks ninth.
