Seth Davis (J.K. Mullen HS, Aurora, Colo.) was selected as the "Pitcher of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for the third time this baseball season. Davis has helped the Vikings get off to a 11-3 start this year, including a 4-0 record in a recently concluded trip to Ft. Myers, Florida
Davis was the starting pitcher for the Vikings in Ft. Myers, Florida where he responded with a nine-inning complete victory over Edgewood. The Vikings won 4-3 Sunday, March 15 and Davis only allowed five hits and two walks with 15 strikeouts.
On the year, Davis is 4-0 with a 3.34 ERA in four starts, three of which he has completed. He's thrown a team-high 32 innings and given up 24 hits for a .216 opponents' batting average. Davis also leads in strikeouts with 48 this season.
Davis is currently second on Augustana's career strikeout list with 287, only three short of breaking the previous career record of 290 held by John Benedetti. He is also fourth in career innings pitched with 241 1/3. Last season Davis was a second team all-conference performer with a 5-2 record and a 3.45 ERA in 10 starts. He led the team with 89 strikeouts in addition to leading the CCIW in strikeouts with 56 in conference games.
In 2013 Davis was and NCAA Division III All-American when he finished the season 7-2 with a 1.89 ERA while compiling 100 strikeouts. Davis has earned all-conference honors three times, including a first team selection in 2013, during his Augustana Career.
The son of Curtis and Laura Gonzales-Davis of Aurora, Colorado, Seth is a business marketing major.
